Baby Monitor Privacy Policy

1. Summary

Baby Monitor turns two phones into a baby monitor over your local network. It needs no account and contains no ads. Audio and room readings flow only between your own phones on your local Wi-Fi; they are never sent to the developer or to the cloud. The information that can leave your phone is: anonymous crash and diagnostic logs, always collected for app stability (required), and anonymous usage information showing which features are used, collected only if you agree on the in-app consent screen (optional; you can turn it off at any time in Settings).

2. Data processed

  • Crash and diagnostic logs (required, anonymous): when the app crashes or hits an error, Firebase Crashlytics sends the error log (where the error happened), device model, Android and app version, and technical state such as memory and storage at that moment. These logs are needed for the app's stability and cannot be turned off. No user ID or account information is attached.
  • Anonymous usage information (optional): if you agree on the consent screen, Firebase Analytics collects app interactions (such as which features are used) anonymously, to improve and develop the app. If you do not agree, it is not collected; you can change your choice at any time in Settings. On first launch, before you make your choice, collection may already be active.
  • Firebase installation ID: a random ID assigned to each installation, used for crash reporting and usage information. It is not linked to your name, an account or any other identity; reinstalling creates a new one. No advertising ID is collected.
  • App settings: the app fetches settings from Firebase Remote Config. This sends no user data.
  • Microphone audio: the phone in Baby Mode streams the room audio only to the paired, approved parent phone, directly over your local network (WiFi/hotspot). Audio is not recorded, stored or sent over the internet. Crying / waking / noise detection runs on the phone itself; only the result is sent to the parent phone as an alert.
  • Parent push-to-talk audio: sent only to the baby phone, directly over the local network.
  • Device information: device name (editable in Settings), battery level, WiFi signal level and pairing keys are shared only between your two phones and stored locally on the phone. They are deleted when you uninstall the app.
  • Alert history: kept only in the parent phone's memory and cleared when the app closes.
  • Stories: YouTube links you add (video ID and title) are stored locally on the phone.

3. Permissions and why

  • Microphone: to listen to the baby's room and for push-to-talk.
  • Camera: to scan the pairing QR code. No images are saved.
  • Notifications: crying/waking/noise alerts and the notification showing the app is running in the background.
  • Location / Nearby WiFi devices (Android): required by Android to find devices on the local network and to open a hotspot. Your location is not read, stored or shared.
  • Foreground service and battery optimization exemption: so listening is not interrupted while the screen is off.

4. Third parties

Google (Firebase) processes crash and diagnostic logs and, if you agree, anonymous usage information on our behalf, and it is encrypted in transit. Crashlytics data is kept for about 90 days; Analytics data follows the Google Analytics default retention period. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising. Google privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy . The Stories feature plays YouTube videos; while a story plays, the video loads under Google/YouTube's own terms and privacy policy. Unless you add and play a story, the app does not contact YouTube. Premium purchases are handled by Google Play; we do not see your payment details. No data is shared with any other third party. Not collected: audio, room readings (temperature, noise), device names, location, contacts, photos or personal information.

5. Security

Pairing requires explicit approval on the baby phone; only a parent device you approve can listen. Communication between the devices happens on your local network. For questions or deletion requests: app@ykocaman.dev.

6. Children's privacy

The app is designed for parents and does not collect personal information about your baby or child. The baby phone's microphone sends audio only to the pairing you set up.

7. Data retention and deletion

No data is held on any server, so there is nothing to delete remotely. Local data is removed by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.

8. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page and the "Last updated" date will change.
